B CUBE was founded in 2008 as a BMBF Center of Innovation Competence for Molecular Bioengineering at TU Dresden. It was initiated with great support from many partners and institutions. However, major contributions came from the following persons - thus constituting the scientific fathers of B CUBE:

Carsten Werner

Carsten Werner is head of the IPF-Institute Biofunctional Polymer Materials within the Max Bergmann Center of Biomaterials and Professor for Biofunctional Polymer Materials at the Technische Universitaet Dresden.

Christoph Neinhuis

Christoph Neinhuis holds the chair for Botany at TU Dresden. He is also director of the Botanical Garden, and in 2006 he was appointed Speaker of the Department of Biology.

Daniel Müller

When cofounding B CUBE, Daniel Müller was professor of Cellular Machines at TU Dresden. Since 2010 he holds the chair for Biophysics at ETH Zürich.

Michael Brand

Michael Brand is director of DFG Research Center/Cluster of Excellence 'Regenerative Therapies'. He holds the chair for Developmental Genetics at TU Dresden.

B CUBE would also like to particularly acknowledge the administrative and strategic support by:

  • Sabine Matthiä (BIOTEC/CRTD)
  • Winfried Killisch (TU Dresden)
