MTA/BTA (bis E 9 TV-L)

Am Center for Molecular Bioengineering (B CUBE), einem Institut des Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB), ist in der Professur für BioNano-Werkzeuge zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine Stelle als MTA/BTA (bei Vorliegen der persönlichen Voraussetzungen E 9 TV-L)

für drei Jahre (Befristung gem. TzBfG) zu besetzen. Die Vereinbarkeit von Familie und Beruf hat einen hohen Stellenwert. Die Stelle ist grundsätzlich auch für Teilzeitbeschäftigte geeignet.

Aufgaben: eigenständige Generierung (Gene-editing) und Pflege humaner Zelllinien; Klonierung, Mutagenese, Expression und Isolierung rekombinanter Proteine; eigenständige Durchführung und Auswertung biochemischer und zellbiologischer Studien; Organisation und Pflege von Zell- und Plasmiddatenbanken; Labororganisation einschl. Bestellwesen; Pflege und Überwachung von Laborgeräten und Bestandsverwaltung (Datenbanken).

Voraussetzungen: abgeschlossene Ausbildung als MTA oder BTA bzw. vergleichbare Ausbildung mit einschlägiger Berufserfahrung; Erfahrung mit dem sterilen Arbeiten in der Zellkultur; Kenntnis der gngigen DNA-Klonierungs- und Mutagenesetechniken; Eigeninitiative, selbstständiges systematisches Arbeiten, Kommunikations- und ausgeprägte Teamfähigkeit, sicheres Auftreten; sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift. Praktische Erfahrungen mit der Genomeditierung humaner Zelllinien mittels CRISPR/Cas9 sind von großem Vorteil. Kenntnisse bezüglich der Expression (in Insektenzellen), Isolierung und Charakterisierung rekombinanter Proteine sind erwünscht.

Research Associate / Postdoc

The B CUBE - Center for Molecular Bioengineering, an institute of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB), in the Chair of Molecular Biophysics (Prof. Dr. Michael Schlierf) a position as  Research Associate / Postdoc (Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L) is available starting at the next possible date. The position is limited for one year with the possibility of an extension of two additional years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG).

Tasks: lntracellular membrane-bound organelles are specialized to perform specific (bio)chemical reactions within the cell. However, organelles also communicate and exchange their content by fusing their membranes in a selective fashion. Such selectivity is due to a set of specific proteins that are devoted to tether organelle membranes and bring them closer for subsequent fusion. One tethering factor is the protein EEA1, which generates an active pulling force by an entropic collapse (Murray, Jahnel et al. Nature 2016). We hypothesize that this collapse is the result of a long-range allosteric communication along the coiled-coil structure of EEA1. We are looking for a postdoc (biochemist or a biophysicist) to reveal the mechanism of the allosteric coiled-coil collapse using state -of-t he-art biochemical and single-molecule techniques, including single-molecule FRET. Requirements: The position requires a university and PhD degree in biochemistry, biophysics or related fields. The applicant needs to have a profound background in membrane associated proteins and their purification, and the use of state-of-the-art biochemical techniques. Experience with single-molecule techniques is welcome. Excellent communication skills in English are essential as this is the language at the research centres.
