B CUBE

B CUBE is the BMBF Center of Innovation Competence for Molecular Bioengineering at TU Dresden, cofounded in 2007 by Carsten Werner (speaker), Christoph Neinhuis (vice speaker), Daniel Müller (now ETH Zürich), Michael Brand (BIOTEC) and partners (see associated faculty).

Carsten Werner

Carsten Werner is department head at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden/ Max Bergmann Center of Biomaterials and holds the chair for Biofunctional Polymer Materials at the Center for Regenerative Therapies of TU Dresden.

Christoph Neinhuis

Christoph Neinhuis holds the chair for Botany at TU Dresden. He is also director of the Botanical Garden, and in 2006 he was appointed Dean of the Department of Biology.

Eike Brunner

Eike Brunner holds the chair of Bioanalytical Chemistry at TU Dresden. His research interests are analytical studies of biomineralization phenomena/ biohybrids, determination of the structure and dynamics of biomolecules, especially by using NMR spectroscopy as well as optical spectroscopy and imaging. He is collaborating with B CUBE especially in the field of bioprospecting as well as the application of biological principles in materials science (biomimetic materials).

Wieland Huttner

Wieland Huttner is director of the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics and Honorary Professor of Neurobiology, TU Dresden. His research focus lies on the cell biological basis of mammalian neurogenesis.

Daniel Müller

Until recently, Daniel Müller has been professor of Cellular Machines at TU Dresden. Since 2010 he holds the chair for Biophysics at ETH Zürich. His research group develops and applies bionanotechnolgical tools that allow imaging the molecular machinery of the cell and quantifying their interactions from  the cellular to the sub-molecular scale.

Petra Schwille is professor of Biophysics at BIOTEChnological Center at TU Dresden.
